Actually it is my photos. They seem to be stuck in an ICloud somewhere between Los Angeles and San Francisco. So I have no photos to share of my solo trip to Sausalito. Anyway it's a very beautiful place about 30mins by ferry across the bay. It is quite the haven but I can imagine it would get quite crowded in summer time with tourists. Philip took himself to Oakland by ferry and enjoyed the serenity there! We ended the night with a fabulous show called Beach Blanket Babylon, a long running show that takes the piss out of everyone, with each character wearing more and more elaborate hair sculptures. It was a belly laugh event.
We headed back to Los Angeles in order to catch the early flight to New York. We had half a day to kill so I we hired bikes in Santa Monica and went for a four hour bike ride around there and Venice Beach. We sure saw so amazing sights, people wise. It was a great ride on the beach and on the road, albeit on the wrong side.
We arrived bright and early to LAX to discover that we didn't exist with American Airlines who Qantas is co-sharing. Suffice it to say they were less than friendly and helpful and were extremely rude. It was only that I rang Qantas in Sydney to discover that the flight we were booked on had been cancelled some time ago and Qantas hadn't been notified. Qantas booked us on another flight straight away and all was right with the world again.
The photos: The old and new Oakland Bay Bridges from Oakland ferry, Oakland, bike ride Santa Monica and the Jeffrey Smart moment at the hotel we stayed in overnight. The people at the pool enjoying themselves in the lush environment surrounded by car parks all round. It says it all.
