Not such along day today but filled with adventure just the same. A quick introduction to the subway system had us across to Chelsea in no time and on to the HighLine for a look at what Noo Yoikers have done to their equivalent of Paris's line 4 and the answer is that they have done a great job and although it (only) goes for 19 blocks (compared to 4 km) the design elements and the planting are quite exquisite. Saw some serious crane action so I was happy while Mary found a shop specialising in supporting good causes in either using appropriate materials or donating a % to a good cause not that I don't. We then happened upon the Chelsea food market and it seemed that all of NYC was there at the same time, and it wasn't even 11 yet, maybe they were looking for breakfast too.
Back across to Brooklyn to start a tour of Fort Greene houses we signed up for earlier which involved visiting 11 stunning homes in the area and wow, these were serious homes, very stylish and mostly with an art connection, music, writing, painting or whatever. Some were very conservative but stylish brownstones while others were examples of what can be done in a contemporary sense. Got some great ideas for Corrimal!
Call me old fashioned but one of the must-do's for NYC was to hear a gospel choir in full flight, we'll tonight was the night. As part of the house tour we were advised that the Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church were to host the Lafayette Inspirational Choir tonight, we'll ring my chimes, this was to take our breath away, amazing stuff and a dream come true.
Managed to calm down enough to walk a block or so for another great meal but this time without kale (who created the demand for kale) followed by a short visit to a local bar only to find it was run by a nice young thing from Brisbane!
Not hard to spot the Aussie but I have to say that Noo Yoikers are a friendly lot.
