New York, New York

Y

The drive back from Provincetown to Boston was without drama just boring highway carved through the countryside and not the scenic route we took when arriving. Thanks to the wonders of GPS Philip was able to get the Buick into the nominated car park without any drama or even the sound of a dismissive car horn from anyone not happy about Philips lane-keeping skills or his tendency to veer right.

We were grateful to leave the longer drive back to NYC to the driver off the double deck coach although it seemed that the bus was speed restricted as the return journey took almost an hour longer. We did get to see NYC emerge from the surrounding countryside although seeing it and actually getting closer to it were two different things. Mary's sister Ann had braved the subway system and was there to meet us when we finally got through the traffic.

Arriving at the next apartment found us in an area that took us a little by surprise. We were certainly the odd ones out. We quickly learned just how big Brooklyn is and just how much difference a mile or two can make. We decided there and then that we want to be in a different part of Brooklyn despite the fact that New York's finest are parked at each end of the street and some charming and very well equipped officers patrol the street, all the time!

Back to Luz for dinner where we got to know a pair from Noo Joisey who were just great fun to be with and who filled us in on the local idiosyncrasies. Uber decided to send us a taxi this time although they hadn't seemed keen to pick us up earlier.

Sunday saw us revisit the Brooklyn Flea with Ann for the bruch of Asian style hotdogs, go figure. Some interesting sights at the markets. We then had an envigorating trip on the hop on hop off bus to get our bearings around Manhatten. All went well until it bucketed down and we were left pondering the meaning of life in our tres chic ponchos on the top deck. We persevered for an another half hour and cut our losses and made the long trek home for a Saturday night in,in New York.
